What Is A Flood Cut

A flood cut is when the water restoration contractor has to cut out the drywall from your property.  The cut is made 12-18 inches above where the flood damage stopped, so that’s why it’s called a flood cut.  It is done so that we can remove the drywall and address any moisture issues behind the actual wall.

Category 3 water loss

According the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification), which sets the standards for the cleaning industry and water damage restoration training, there are several different levels and classes involved in liquid destruction. From the IICRC’s S-500 standards, there are three categories describing the type of liquid involved.

Category 3. This is the worst classification and is grossly unsanitary. It could cause severe illness or death if ingested. It used to be called black water, and sources include sewer backup, flooding from rivers or streams, toilet overflow with feces, and stagnant liquid that has begun to support bacterial growth.

Our Certified IICRC technicians performed a 4 foot flood cut in this home removing everything from 4 foot down.

That Lufkin roof leak could turn into a mold problem

Storms can be quite destructive to your home or business, particularly to your roof. Whether from hail, fallen branches, or excessive rain, roof damage caused by a storm may actually be covered by your homeowner’s insurance policy.

After a storm any unidentified or unaddressed roof leak to a home or commercial property, can quickly become infested with mold if a source of water is present. Mold can spread throughout a property in as little as 48 hours. Since mold can produce allergens and irritants, you should call us to inspect your Lufkin home if you suspect you have a mold problem. If mold is found, we have the training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.

Learn more about mold and what to do until help arrives by reviewing these mold damage tips.

Does your Nacogdoches home have a fire safety plan?

Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters, the vast majority of which are home fires. So we set a goal to reduce fire-related deaths and injuries in the US by 25% by 2020.

On average:

  • 7 people die every day from a home fire, most impacting children and the elderly
  • 36 people suffer injuries as a result of home fires every day
  • Over $7 billion in property damage occurs every year

It can happen within two minutes — first a lick of flame, then it spreads as it searches for fuel. The next thing you know, you could have a life-threatening fire on your hands. But fires can be prevented with a few very simple precautions.
